Proposed Lockhartons Priority Parking Area
In March 2026, the Council’s Traffic Regulation Orders Sub-committee approved the implementation of a Priority Parking Area (PPA) in the Lockharton area, named “B11”. The Council has written to all affected residents to provide an update, which includes information regarding planned works and parking permits.
Following the conclusion of the legal process, work to implement the new parking controls is expected to start at the beginning of June 2026, lasting for approximately three weeks.
How will the Priority Parking Area work?
The Priority Parking Area (PPA) will operate from 12.30pm to 2.00pm, Monday to Friday, and only residents with B11 PPA parking permits, or those with visitor parking permits, will be permitted to park during the hours of operation. Drivers who do not hold permits will be permitted to park out with the hours of operation.
Parking Permits
Parking permits are electronic and will be available to residents through the Council’s website. We have written to residents to provide information regarding permits and will write again to provide information about the application process before the PPA comes into effect.
Information regarding permits is available on our permit parking page, although applications cannot be made yet.
Will there be a Need for Signs and Road Markings?
To make sure that we can effectively manage parking, we do need to introduce new signs and road markings. We will keep signs to the minimum required and will try to minimise the need for new poles. If possible, signs will be attached to buildings, railings or fences, although we will contact residents to seek their permission first. We would encourage any property owners who are contacted to consider granting permission at their earliest convenience to help us minimise potential street clutter.
What Happens Now?
Implementation works are due to beigin in June 2026 and the Council will write to residents again to provide a further update before the PPA comes into effect.
